Blocked Sinuses

Why do I get Blocked Sinuses?

Sinus Cavities

Sinus cavities (air-filled pockets at the front of your face and skull) become blocked when the mucus does not drain as fast as it is produced or the ostium (small opening of the sinuses) becomes blocked. When these openings become blocked by mucus, we experience pain and congestion.

Irritants such as allergies, tobacco, a cold and chemicals keep the sinuses from draining by paralyzing the cilia (hair like structures that sweep out germs, dust and germ-laden mucus) in the sinus cavities.

Blocked sinus cavities are usually caused by a cold/flu or hayfever and usually don't occur in children under the age of five. You can prevent children from developing a serious sinus infection by treating the sinus congestion immediately.

What will happen if I don't treat my Blocked Sinuses immediately?

If the sinuses remain blocked for a long period of time, you may get a secondary infection such as Chronic Sinusitis. This secondary infection is caused by bacteria, which are normally present within the respiratory tract. These bacteria multiply and cause a sinus infection when they are unable to drain out of the blocked sinuses.

Acute Sinusitis (a sinus infection that has not last longer than 2-3 weeks) is the result of a viral infection (cold or flu) within the sinus cavity. This viral infection causes the nasal lining to swell and become narrow causing a blockage. Mucus builds up behind the blockage, giving rise to a nice warm moist place for bacteria to grow and flourish. This build up of mucus causes the pain, pressure and congestion in the sinus regions.

Blockage of sinus passages can cause quite a lot of sinus complications that can affect the general well-being of a person. These complications include:

  • Sinus pressure which causes intense pain during a 'sinus attack'
  • Sinus headaches
  • General discomfort
  • Congestion
  • A headache in the morning when you wake up
  • A stuffy nose
  • Full feeling in the head

Blocked Sinuses can be caused by any of the following:

  • Nasal Polyps
  • A deviated septum
  • Nasal tumors
  • Nasal allergy
  • Abnormally located sinus drainage duct
  • Facial Trauma (may block the sinus drainage pathways)
  • Viral infections
  • Frequent swimming or diving
  • Overuse of nasal decongestants, especially over-the counter sprays that cause sinus rebound effects.
  • Not completely clearing the first sinus infection
  • Blowing the nose too hard (spreading a mild infection within the body).
  • Not getting enough rest
  • History of asthma
  • Cystic Fibrosis
  • Dental trauma

Sinus Pressure Remedy

" I just received my Sinus-Pro remedies about 40 days ago.

I was somewhat skeptical before I ordered, but I tried it anyway.

This remarkable little remedy cleared my sinus congestion in two days.
I have tried almost every antibiotic and nasal spray out there. They all seem to work but after two weeks the symptoms come back. It has been over a month and I still feel great.
I can't believe that homeopathy truly works.”
