Damp Weather

Weather can also greatly affect a person's reaction to allergies. The weather conditions that most affect allergies include:

  • Changes in temperature
  • Changes in humidity
  • High winds
  • Dampness

Pollen
Pollen

On a breezy, warm spring day pollen count is at its highest.

Although humid and damp weather can aggravate mold allergies, rainy weather can temporarily reduce the levels of wind-borne pollen grains.

Dust mites must obtain the water they need from air around them. Dust mites do well where relative humidity levels are high. They need a minimum relative humidity of 70% to survive and reproduce. Such relative humidity only occurs during rainy, damp weather and in very damp houses.
