General Sinusitis Ingredients

This is a more potent formula and we have used only natural ingredients of the best quality to produce an effective remedy. We have added higher potencies of Kalium Bichromicum and Silicea to this formula as well as another ingredient Hepar Sulphuris Calcarea which addresses or prevents infections as a sequel to sinusitis.

Asafoetida

Asafoetida grows freely in Nepal and India. The homeopathic remedy is made from the gum resin of the root of the Ferula Asafoetida tree. The resin has a garlic-like odor. It is highly soluble in alcohol and the homeopathic mother tincture is prepared from alcohol from which the higher potencies are manufactured. It has been used since 1822 as a homeopathic medicine.

It is a ingredient that is used when there is sinusitis that results in purulent nasal discharges and there is damage to the nasal bones. Often there are gastric symptoms associated with the sinusitis. Helps reduce mucosa swelling in both the nasal membranes and the stomach.

Calcarea Carbonica

Calcarea Carbonica is also known as Calcium Carbonate, Calcarea Ostrearum or Carbonate of lime. Its chemical formula is CaCO3. It is prepared by triturating Calcium Carbonate in sugar of milk for the first three potencies and then it is prepared in alcohol for the higher potencies. Hahnemann the founder of homeopathy prepared this remedy over 150 years ago from the middle layer of the oyster shell.

There is stoppage of nose with a fetid yellow discharge. Patient often complains of offensive odor in the nose either they or someone else notices. There is swelling at root of nose with sinusitis. There may have nose bleeds with sinusitis. It is one of the most useful remedies in treating nasal polyps.

Kali Bichromicum


This remedy is made from a chemical compound of Potassium and Chromic acid. It is also known as Potassium Bichromate with a chemical formula K2Cr2O7. The homeopathic remedy is prepared with 1 part Potassium Bichromate mixed with 99 parts sugar of milk. This is then triturated up to 3CH from which liquid potencies are prepared in alcohol. Homeopathic preparation of this substance makes it exceptionally safe for patients of all ages to use.

The eyes and nose tend to burn after exposure to cold. There is frequent and violent sneezing, sniffing and even stoppage of the nostrils. The discharge can be watery, corrosive, thick and stringy, contain pus, can turn into scabs or plugs, sometimes it may be offensive and could contain blood with the discharge. There may be a nose bleed especially after a bath or when eating.

There can be sensations of crawling, dryness, stiffness, twitching, being swollen, heaviness, tickling with the nostrils and sinuses. Presence of pain or pressure in the root of the nose or in the sinus bones themselves. Kalium Bichromicum is excellent to treat sinusitis that is aggravated from drinking beer.

There can be ulceration of the septum or inflammation of the entire nasal mucous membranes. There may be tough ropy discharges (often it is greenish yellow) which can also be found in the posterior nares commonly referred to as post nasal drip.

It is effective to use in cases of chronic inflammation of the frontal sinuses with a stopped-up sensation.

Mercurius Vivus

Mercurius Vivus is also known as Merc Solubilis, Metallic Mercury, Quick Silver, Merc Oxydatus Niger and Black Oxide of Mercury. Its chemical formula is Hg. Hahnemann prepared Mercurius Solubilis by precipitating mercury from its solution in Nitric Acid by means of caustic ammonia. Triturations are prepared with sugar of milk. Higher potencies are prepared from the 3CH trituration.

There is much sneezing, especially in sunshine. Nostrils feel raw, ulcerated and nasal bones are swollen. Mercurius Vivus treats yellow-green, fetid, pus-like discharge. Coryza is acrid discharge, but too thick to run down the lip and is worse in a warm room. There is pain and swelling of nasal bones. Mercurius Vivus treats nasal bone caries, which may also have greenish fetid ulceration. For nosebleed that occur at night. This is a useful remedy to treat copious discharge of corroding mucus.

Sulphur

Sulphur is also known as Brimstone. It occurs in nature as a brittle crystalline substance. It is often found in mines and around volcanoes. It is triturated with sugar of milk till the 3rd potency where after it is made in alcohol.

Sulphur treats pain and pressure in the forehead. Heaviness and fullness aggravated raising or moving head with tension in and around eyes from every mental exertion or moving eyes. Sulphur also addresses swelling, redness and inflammation of the nose. For burning fluent coryza with discharge of burning water in open air, but dry in doors.

Silicea

Silicea is also known as Silica, Silicic Oxide, Pure Flint or Quartz. Its chemical formula is SiO2. Pure silica is triturated in sugar of milk to the 3 rd potency and is then made in alcohol. It was first used by Hahnemann in 1828.

Dry, hard crusts form, bleeding when loosened. The nasal bones are sensitive.

Silicea treats sneezing in the mornings. Nasal obstruction with loss of smell. Useful for chronic sinusitis and rhinitis.
