Post Nasal Drip Ingredients

The following natural ingredients are used in the Post Nasal Drip remedy.
The ingredients are made into a liquid form using the homeopathic technique and are sprayed on to lactose (sugar of milk) tablets. Lactose tablets have no known side effects.

Kalium Bichromicum

This remedy is made from a chemical compound of Potassium and Chromic acid. It is also known as Potassium Bichromate with a chemical formula K2Cr2O7. The homeopathic remedy is prepared with 1 part Potassium Bichromate mixed with 99 parts sugar of milk. This is then triturated up to 3CH from which liquid potencies are prepared in alcohol. Homeopathic preparation of this substance makes it exceptionally safe for patients of all ages to use.

The eyes and nose tend to burn after exposure to cold. There is frequent and violent sneezing, sniffing and even stoppage of the nostrils. The discharge can be watery, corrosive, thick and stringy, contain pus, can turn into scabs or plugs, sometimes it may be offensive and could contain blood with the discharge. There may be a nose bleed especially after a bath or when eating.

There can be sensations of crawling, dryness, stiffness, twitching, being swollen, heaviness, tickling with the nostrils and sinuses. Presence of pain or pressure in the root of the nose or in the sinus bones themselves. Kalium Bichromicum is excellent to treat sinusitis that is aggravated from drinking beer.

There can be ulceration of the septum or inflammation of the entire nasal mucous membranes. There may be tough ropy discharges (often it is greenish yellow) which can also be found in the posterior nares commonly referred to as post nasal drip.

It is effective to use in cases of chronic inflammation of the frontal sinuses with a stopped-up sensation.

Natrum Muriaticum

Natrum Muriaticum is also known as Sodium Chloride, Chloride of Sodium, Common Salt or Table Salt. The pure salt is used and is dissolved in water in a ratio of 1 part salt to 9 parts water. Higher potencies are prepared in alcohol. It has been used for over 150 years by homeopaths.

It is useful in violent fluent coryza that lasts from one to three days, which then changes into stoppage of nose, making breathing difficult. The discharge is thin and watery, like the raw white of egg. There is violent sneezing coryza. An excellent remedy for stopping a cold that commences with sneezing. There is loss of smell and taste.

Mercurius Vivus

Mercurius Vivus is also known as Merc Solubilis, Metallic Mercury, Quick Silver, Merc Oxydatus Niger and Black Oxide of Mercury. Its chemical formula is Hg. Hahnemann prepared Mercurius Solubilis by precipitating mercury from its solution in Nitric Acid by means of caustic ammonia. Triturations are prepared with sugar of milk. Higher potencies are prepared from the 3CH trituration.

Much sneezing, sneezing in sunshine. Nostrils feel raw, ulcerated and nasal bones are swollen. Mercurius Vivus treats yellow-green, fetid, pus-like discharge. Coryza is acrid discharge, but too thick to run down the lip and is worse in a warm room. There is pain and swelling of nasal bones. This can treat nasal bone caries, which may also have greenish fetid ulceration. For nosebleed that occur at night. This is a useful remedy to treat copious discharge of corroding mucus.

Capsicum

Capsicum is also known as the red pepper or cayenne pepper. The plant belongs to the Solanaceae family. It is found all over the world. The ripe red peppers are used to form the mother tincture from which the higher potencies are made.

Capsicum is a useful remedy for sinusitis, inflammation of the throat and ears especially in smokers and drinkers. The sinuses and throat feel as if they were scalded. There is violent sneezing with thin clear watery discharge. There may be nose-bleeds on waking. Capsicum has an affinity to help patients who are flabby, easily exhausted dread to do any exercise and want to lie down and sleep when they have an attack of sinusitis.

Hydrastis Canadensis

Hydrastis Canadensis is also known as Golden Seal and Orange root. It is a perennial plant belonging to the order of Rannunculacea. It is grows in the USA and Canada. The mother tincture is prepared from the fresh roots of the plant.

Hydrastis Canadensis is useful for treating thick tenacious secretions especially from the posterior nares. The person needing Hydrastis Canadensis has a tendency to blow nose all the time. It is effective in the treatment of infective sinusitis.
